Mobile WiMAX wordt dé standaard

Onlangs las ik in tbm een interview met Jeanine van der Vlist (CEO van Worldmax), waarin ze vertelde dat WiMAX de nieuwe standaard wordt. Als een blij kind deed ik een sprongetje van vreugde, aangezien ik hier al geruime tijd op wacht. Inmiddels is heel Amsterdam al in staat om online te gaan via een WiMAX verbinding.

WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) kan je zien als de grote broer van Wi-Fi. Het gehele technologische verhaal moet je even bij elkaar googelen of lezen op Wikipedia, maar waar het op neer komt is dat je EN sneller draadloos kan internetten EN dat het niet meer uitmaakt waar je dat doet; buiten in het park of binnen op kantoor.
